Sound Films
In the sounds Films was the same idea of the cinema, because it was a combination of motion Pictures with recorded sound. On February 27, 1888, Eadweard Muybridge and Thomas Edison met each other. They don’t have any agreement, but in a year Thomas Edison develop the Kinetopscope as a visual complement to his cylinder phonograph. In 1899 the Cinemacrophonograph as created, this was a Project of sound-film, this was similar as the Kinetophone. This Project needs individual earphones.
The first publicly exhibited Films with images and Clement-Maurice Gratioulet and Henri Lioret of France presented recorded sound at the Paris Exposition in 1900.

Resident Evil 4
This movie is very interesting. First I thought that I wouldn’t like it, but when I saw it I realized that was very interesting, because the makeup and sounds.
This movie had a lot of sounds, because is of suspense and this type of movies had a lot of sounds like, doors opening, screams, noise of people. As we already know this sounds are recorded in the post- production.
Another thing that had this movie was the makeup, because was zombies, so they had to make it seems almost real and make the viewer belief that there were zombies.
To get a perfect project, all the group of film production had to be united and work together to make it good.
Filmmaking
The Filmmaking or Film production is a process of creating and making a film, for a script, storyboard until get the final product. This process happened during few month to several years to get the final task. This part of the film takes place all over the world and with a lot of range of economic, social and political aspects. They used techniques of recording images to film and videos.
The film production or Filmmaking had 5 stages:
· Development: Here is when the script has to be written and the storyboard.
· Pre-Production: Here is when started the preparations for the film, sets, decoration.
· Production: Here the law elements for the finished film are recorded.

Casablanca
In this movie we can see the use of different shots and angles like: over the shoulder shot, high angle, medium shot, close-up, and many others. The director used this shots and angles to make the viewers interested on those details and angles that anyone could see.
The music in this movie is very interesting because in each scene of a different problem is a different intense of the music. The music was written by Max Steiner. The interesting music in this movie was the “Duel of songs”, between Strasser and Laszlo at Rick´s Café. When each character appears were a different song, and when the movie still goes on the intensity of the songs increase and here creates a duel. In this movie are a lot of songs created by different musicians like: Isham Jones, Cecil Mack, Al Jolson , etc.
Casablanca was a great movie for me, because in that time it had almost all the things that a film have to have, like lights, shots, angles, music, etc. The lights were very interesting too, because we can see that they used a lot of lamps to reflect like a suspicious set and with lamps they created shadows on the characters and made them more interesting.
Sound effects
· Hard sound effect: Are common sounds that appears on screen like doors open, cars driving, etc.
· Background sound effect: Are sounds that don´t go at the same time with the image, but they indicate the setting to the viewers like car interiors, forest sounds, etc.
· Foley sound effects: Are sounds that goes at the same time of the image like, footsteps, movements with hand, foots, etc.
· Design sound effect: Are sounds very rare, because they not easily to record in nature. These sounds are usually on fiction films or in musical films to created mood.
All of these sound effects are used by sound editors that are professionals in the sound area.

Alice in Wonderland
Prosthetic Make-up
When they finished with this part they mold points in the sculpted to make sure that the two molds they created fix perfectly. One they finished with all the molds and sculpture of the face or any part of the body they started to paint the entire make up that in that moment they wanted to put.
Is very important to know how to paint and what colors to used, because it have to seems real in a movie, that´s why every element in the film had to fix. One of the hardest parts of prosthetic make-up is keeping the edges as thin as possible. They have to worry about every little detail to make it perfect in the movie.

Visual Effect
There are some visual effects that are divided in four categories:
* Models: Small sets, models and animatronics.
* Matte Paintng: These we are studying right know. Digital or traditional paintings or photographs which are useful as backgrounds.
* Live-action effects: Keying actors or models through blue screening and green screening.
* Digital animation:Modeling, computer graphics lighting, tecturing, rigging, animating, and rendering computer-generated 3D characters, particle effects, digital sets, backgrounds.
The Visual Effects are often used during Post-Production, here is when the computer and the shoots are working together to get the Final Product. In the Post Production the films are edited with the graphic designs, animation and similar software. Also there the editors use special effects that are made on sets.

The Ghost Rider
This movie is very interesting, because it all started with a normal beginning of love story, but at the end the romantic kid make a deal with the devil and all her life ends.
If we focus in the symbols of the movie had great symbols, because the first symbol that appears is the tree that the in love couple had. They met there to talk, but the thing that calls my attention was that the tree was just exactly as the tree of Adam and Eva, and that indicates me that was a prohibited love.
The sets that we can find in this movie are very dark and seem kind scary, but the make-up and the customs are perfect with the scenes.
Filmmaker

It also has many stages inside this camp as:
· Development (Is when the script is written for a film)
· Pre-Production ( They get prepare to made shoots, where actors are hired, sets are built and locations are selected)
· Production (The few final things of the film are shoot)
· Post-Production ( The film, sound, music are edited, they also put the last effects in the movie)
· Sales and distribution ( The film is distributed to the cinemas and for the home media audience)

Theory of Film
In film appear so many theories that we can´t agree with anyone in total, because each theory had something interesting and true. As is normal there in history are people that, because they don´t agree with some parts they put another idea to the innocent people and they as innocent belief everything. Film is something unique, because it gave us more imagination when we see a imaginary movie and also we can feel the fear to happen something like in the movie when is a real movie. We have to believe in our feelings and not the theories that some people have.
This theory develop he different studies of film as art. Ricciotto Canudo was who created and started all of this theory, the birth of the sixth art. This theory was that as the films were far away from the reality they considered an art. Also, there were people that were against this theory, because they thought that art have do be everything that is real and not that imaginary theory.

Criticism
· Academic criticism: these are made by film scholars.
· Journalistic criticism: These appear in newspapers and many other Medias on the world. They just have one or two days to make their own opinion about the film.
Criticism has an important impact on films and history, because the directors can used those opinions and for their next movie they can make them better.
We must make a critic for each movie that we see, because there we can help those people that don´t understand the mistakes on the film and the director could do it better. This is a very good way to learn more about films, because here we can analyze each part of the movie and we can focus on the specific details that are important.
iron man Anlanysis
Stan Lee had the idea of a businessman superhero. He wanted to create a character that would go against the spirit of the times and Marvel's readership. Iron Man first appeared in 13- to 18-page stories in Tales of Suspense, that were supernatural stories. The character's original costume was a bulky gray armored suit, replaced by a golden version in the second story.
Characters and representation:
· Tony Stark: he is an industrialist ingenious engineer who suffers a severe heart injury during a kidnapping in which his captors attempt to force him to build a weapon of mass destruction. He instead creates a powered suit to save his life and escape captivity.
· Pepper Potts: has the unenviable task of keeping billionaire playboy Stark in line in the beginning, and forms the logical counter-argument to Tony's epiphany-driven quest for redemption.
Sound and Music/ Dialogues:
The composer of the music in iron man was Ramin Djawadi. The director, Favreau, clearly focus on "heavy" guitar in the score, and Djawadi composed the music on that instrument before arranging it for orchestra. If we talk about the dialogues there was much improvisation in dialogue scenes, because the script was not completed when filming began. The filmmakers focused on the story making sense and planning the action instead of the script. Favreau acknowledged that improvisation would make the film feel more natural. Some scenes were shot with two cameras to capture lines said on the spot. Multiple takes were done, because Downey wanted to try something new each time. It was Downey's idea to have Stark holds a news conference the floor, and he created the speech Stark makes when demonstrating the Jericho weapon.

Why directors make trailers?
Analysis of the movie Valentine´s Day
The story is told by different point of view of different loves and different couples. The movie is clear, because the director make everything in order and clear for us to understand what is happening in the movie.
Characters and representation:
* Liz: She has 2 works. She work as a secretary in an office and she talk with people to entertain them by the phone.
*Jason: He at the beginning of the movie act like a real boy and seems to has strong feelings about the soldier, but at the end of the movie appear that he like boys, he was homosexual.
*Morley Clarkson: She at the begging of the movie seems to be a romantic and she will marry with Reed, but then she left the house and returns the ring to Reed.
Lighting, color and shades:
The lights that the director put to film the movie are perfectly used, because we can see the different lights and shades that appear on screen. The colors that the characters used are something that call our attention and made us to be interest in the movie. The director used those colors to make the movie better and to have a point of attention. Also, they put many colors because they wanted to create a place of love.
This movie is very cute, some people said that is boring, but for me was just okay. You must see it….!

Price of Persia:The sands of time.
I want to share my opinion and point of view of the effects of this movie that for me was very interesting. When I first saw this movie I thought that would be with bad effects and with a lot of blood, but when the clock was running the movie was becoming interesting and it was not because the drama, for me was because the many effects that this movie had, and also had a lot of shots. This movie had many effects because it plays with the time. Another thing that I noticed was that when was a battle there was like thousands of soldiers and that was impossible true and my opinion was that there was doubles that when they put the effects they copy and paste the people in the battle. Well I hope that you can see this movie is very interesting in the part of the effects.
XOXO Gossip Girl.
Film Production

When we talk about film and shots we must ask some questions to ourselves:
*What is the best viewpoint for filming this position of the event?
*How much are should be incluided in this shot?
Well after this questions we have to know 3 definitions:
Scene: efines the place or setting where the action is laid.
Shot: Defines a continuous view filmed by one camera without interuption
Sequence: A series of scene or shot complete in itself.
There are 6 basic shots in film:
1)Extreme Long Shot: Taken at a great distance.
2) Long Shot
:The distance between the audience and the stage in the live theatre
3) Full Shot:
Barely including the whole body
4) Medium Shot:
Knees to waste up
5) Close Up: Concentrates on a relatively small object.
6) Extreme Close-Up:
Might just show eyes or mouth
There are more shots but this 6 are the basic.
Film is not only about shots, it also have types of cameras angles:
Objective: Te audience point view
Subjective: The camera acts as the viewers eyes-movement.
Point of view: What the character is seeing.
Film without all this techniques would be nothing because of this is what makes films interesting.

The truth of Forest Gump.-Effects
This is a comedy movie with many effects. This movie had many effects that we already study in class like cutting and many others. In the movie was a part that Forest made very good thing for people so he was recognized by different presidents of the year and he appear in the television, but the truth is that we know that those presidents like kennedy was alive many years ago before Forest was born. They made assembly someone that appear in that period of time that those presidents were alive and put Forest instead of them and made that when the president real talk about any topic put a voice talking like him but with a topic about the movie. Also there was another interesting effect that when Forest appear on television they put the saturation or the opacity almost the same that the real conference of the president of that year had, so they made everything so perfect that we saw it and we believed that he was there, but also in that time that the movie was taken they don’t had the perfect technology to never made a mistake and that someone don’t believed. The instructors or the ones that put all those effects are professional people that know what to do with everything and the actors only had to memorize the script and the ones who made the entire movie are those people of the effects.

Animation
Animation is a technique that frames of film are produced individually. It’s created as a computer graphic or photography or making changes to the first model. After doing all of this the final result is a special animation camera. In animations also appears the persistence of vision when there are many frames and the brain catches this succession like a movement. Animations are expensive to create and produces and these animations are created in professional studios. These animations are cartoons that fist was on movie theaters and then they moved to television. This technique used digital technologies in all their productions.

Other kind women that want to be loved is that she think that men make signals to symbolized he is love on you, but the truth is that we, woman, don’t have to belief everything that a man says because they had their ways to convinced us to belief and trust on them. Creative impact of sound in film
During the 20’s were full of talkies and silent movies because there wasn’t the technology that permits the perfect sound. Also they don’t have the abilities to use the technology advanced. The technology was improving and people started to study how to use the new method. Sounds film gave more genres than the silent films. It had more advantage technologic and people more sophisticated working for them. The first classic style Hollywood musical was The Broadway Melody in 1929. In many countries musical films started to appear creating many different forms of films like comedy, horror, gothic, etc. American movies started to became popular having a lot of dialog and songs. Cartoon appeared in 1937 with the fist English-speaking animated feature Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. This period of years was a major year for America.

Fireproof

This is a movie about a couple that had a lot of problems. Caleb, the husband, was a hero because he was a fireman and the objective of him was to save people even though he had to risk his life. He had two different kind of life in each day. In his work he save people and risk it everything for them, but in his home he always fight with his wife, Catherine. One day they realized that they can’t support their relationship anymore and Catherine told him to broke up. Both were decided to finish that relation. Caleb’s father, John, decided to present to his son a 40-Day experiment called "Te Love Dare" that he and his mother did. At fist impression of Caleb was negative but then he let his father convinced him and he decided to do the experiment. Catherine was brave to rejected the many things that Caleb was doing like giving flowers, chocolates and the most important give that he gave to she was paying a chair that Catherine was paying little by little for her mom that was sick. The experiment at the beginning was going bad, but then finally Catherine was convinced that her husband was changing and was for her. Caleb found peace and answers when his dad told him to talk to God, because he is the only one who can help people like that. He started praying and little by little the things were going better. Finally, both noticed that they need each other and the only thing that was missing was believed in them. For me this is a great movie, because we can noticed that even the most strong and brave man like a fireman need some help in some cases and also it reflect to us the feelings that those people had. A couple is a beautiful feeling that when they forget about loving and making things to represent the love the things will going down. So, if you love someone you must demonstrate all the love that you had.

In this movie we can noticed that true love is in everywhere, we can find it even though we are in our worst problems, but what we have to do is to be secured of every step you are going to take because that can be a little thig that will change for complete your life. Also we can said that if we love someone very very much it doesn´t care if you are in the other part of the world because you trust to him/her and your love can make everything... What do you think about this?
jueves, 8 de abril de 2010

the first thirty years of their history, movies were silent, although accompanied by live musicians and sometimes sound effects and even commentary spoken by the showman or projectionist.Illustrated songs were a notable exception to this trend that began in 1894 in vaudeville houses and persisted as late as the late 1930s in movie theaters. In this early precursor to the music video, live performance or sound recordings were paired with hand-colored glass slides projected through stereopticons and similar devices. In this way, song narrative was illustrated through a series of slides whose changes were simultaneous with the narrative development. The main purpose of illustrated songs was to encourage sheet music sales, and they were highly successful with sales reaching into the millions for a single song. Later, with the birth of film, illustrated songs were used as filler material preceding films and during reel changes. In most countries the need for spoken accompaniment quickly faded, with dialogue and narrcmcjnnation presented in intertitles, but in Japanese cinema it remained popular throughout the silent era.1920-1930 was the decade between the end of the Great War and the Depression following the Stock Market Crash. Film theaters and studios were not initially affected in this decade by the Crash in late 1929. The basic patterns and foundations of the film industry (and its economic organization) were established in the 1920s. The studio system was essentially born with long-term contracts for stars, lavish production values, and increasingly rigid control of directors and stars by the studio's production chief and in-house publicity departments. After World War I and into the early 1920s, America was the leading producer of films in the world - using Thomas Ince's "factory system" of production, although the system did limit the creativity of many directors. Production was in the hands of the major studios (that really flourished after 1927 for almost 20 years), and the star system was burgeoning.
Originally, in the earliest years of the motion picture industry, production, distribution, and exhibition were separately controlled. When the industry rapidly grew, these functions became integrated under one directorship to maximize profits, something called vertical integration. There were eight major (and minor) studios (see below) that dominated the industry. They were the ones that had most successfully consolidated and integrated all aspects of a film's development. By 1929, the film-making firms that were to rule and monopolize Hollywood for the next half-century were the giants or the majors, sometimes dubbed The Big Five. They produced more than 90 percent of the fiction films in America and distributed their films both nationally and internationally. Each studio somewhat differentiated its products from other studios.
